Al Ritmo Travels is a sole proprietorship run by Selçuk Değer, based in Amsterdam and registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce under number 98345133. I process personal data from people who visit my website, get in touch, or sign up for a trip. This policy explains what data that is, why I collect it, and what your rights are.

What I collect
When you use the contact form
Your name, email address and the content of your message.
When you sign up for a trip
Your name, email address, phone number, which departure you’re signing up for, how many people you’d travel with, and any comments you add.
When you join the interest list
Your name, your email address and/or phone number, the travel period you have in mind, your preferred destination and any comments. This form runs through Google Forms; the answers end up in a spreadsheet at Google.
When you email, call or message me
Your email address or phone number, and the content of our conversation.
When you visit the website
Google Analytics collects data about how the site is used: which pages are visited, for how long, on what kind of device and from which country. Your IP address is truncated, so I can’t trace it back to you as a person.
When you actually book
In addition to the above: your address, date of birth and passport details, your payment details, and anything relevant to the trip itself — dietary requirements, or medical details I need to know in order to look after you properly.

I don’t use your data for anything other than what you gave it to me for, and I never sell it on.
Who I share it with
To run the website and the forms
Automattic Inc. (WordPress.com and Jetpack) hosts the site and processes the forms. Google LLC processes the interest list form (Google Forms) and the visitor statistics (Google Analytics). Both companies are based in the United States.
To run a trip
If you book a trip, I share what’s needed with parties on the ground: hotels, local guides, transport providers and excursion operators in the Dominican Republic or Colombia. Usually that’s just your name; sometimes a date of birth or passport number is required, for a hotel check-in or a domestic flight for example. These countries are outside the European Union and don’t offer the same level of protection as the EU. I share no more than is strictly necessary for your trip.
If you message me on WhatsApp
WhatsApp is a Meta service. Their privacy policy applies to our conversation as well.
Beyond this I share nothing with anyone, unless I’m legally required to.
How long I keep it
- Interest list: until you tell me you want off it.
- Enquiries and sign-ups that don’t lead to a booking: two years, so I can get in touch if a trip comes up that suits you.
- Bookings and financial records: seven years. That’s the retention period Dutch tax law requires.
- Passport details and medical information: no longer than six months after your trip ends.
How I protect it
The website runs over an encrypted connection (https). My email and the form data are protected with two-factor authentication. I’m the only person with access.
Since I work alone, I can’t promise nothing will ever go wrong. If you notice something isn’t right with your data, tell me and I’ll fix it.
Your rights
You can always ask me to:
- Show you what data I hold about you
- Correct it if something is wrong
- Delete it — I’ll wipe everything except what I’m legally required to keep
- Restrict it — stop using your data for a while
- Object to a particular use
- Transfer it — get your data in a usable file
- Withdraw your consent — for the interest list, for example. One message is enough.

If you’re unhappy with how I handle your data, you can file a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens) at autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl.
Cookies
The website places functional cookies needed to make it work, and analytics cookies from Google Analytics. You can disable cookies in your browser settings; the site will keep working.
Changes
I’ll update this policy if what I collect or how I collect it changes. The date at the top shows when that last happened.
